1. INSTALLATION:

Unpack the mod and place the contents into your main BG2 folder. Run setup-sharpshooter.exe and follow the instructions. To uninstall, run setup-sharpshooter.exe and choose the uninstall option. This mod should work with or without the Throne of Bhaal expansion, and if you have that I'd recommend getting the final official patch (patch 26498) too. You can get this here. This mod uses the WeiDU installation method, and it should be compatible with other WeiDU mods available. It should also be compatible with non-WeiDU mods if this is installed after them. It should work fine with normal BG2, BG1 Tutu, and probably the various BGT agglomerations should you play with those. Any known problems are listed in the Known Issues section below: please contact me via email or by posting on the Gibberlings Three forums if any others come up.

2. THE MOD:

This mod adds the Sharpshooter thief kit to the game. It arose as a result of a discussion at the Gibberlings Three forums, and being the nice friendly (and non - lazy, honest) modder that I am I decided to code it up. The discussion originally started out as a sort of ranged Swashbuckler kit, and through the suggestions of various people (mainly SixofSpades) began to take shape. It'll also be included in the Lands of Intrigue mod, which you can find out more about at the Gibberlings Three forums if you want to visit.

Anyway, on with the kit.

SHARPSHOOTER: This sort of thief tends to be a stealthy character, preferring to engage their target from afar with bolt or arrow rather than face them in dangerous melee combat. Unlike the ranger, they use their skills to aid their dubious activities involving the property and lives of others rather than the protection of the great outdoors.

Although well - versed in the use of many missile weapons, the sharpshooter is not as resilient as a true warrior and the propensity for missile attacks over melee means that they lack the opportunism of other thieves when it comes to backstabbing. They tend not to see this as a disadvantage, instead striking from the shadows with a well - aimed projectile, or setting a deadly trap for those who would follow, when necessary.

Advantages:

- Can attain Mastery in any missile weapon a Thief can use, and place 2 points in Two Handed Weapon Fighting Style
- Can make a Called Shot once per day per 5 levels. When he activates this ability, any shot made within the next 10 seconds is augmented in the following manner (according to the level of the sharpshooter):
4th level: -1 to THACO of target
8th level: -1 to save vs magic of target
12th level: -1 to strength of target
16th level: +2 bonus to damage

Disadvantages:

- Cannot be of Lawful Good alignment.
- Backstab multiplier capped at x2.

This kit is compatible with the Universal Weapons component of Ghreyfain's excellent Ashes of Embers mod, provided Ashes of Embers is installed first.
